♠︎Tip
In English, the sound of a clock is described as "tick-tock", and the sound of a bell as "ding-dong", while in Japanese, these sounds are expressed with onomatopoeia such as チクタク (ちくたく / chi ku ta ku) for a clock and ゴーン(ごーん / goon) for a bell.
目覚める (めざめる / me za me ru): wake up

♠︎Tip
アリスはアラームの音で覚醒します。: Alice rouses herself to the sound of the alarm. arisu wa araamu no oto de kakuseisimasu
When you deliberately use “rouse” to make the expression sound exaggerated, the Japanese word “覚醒” can be used.
寝る (ねる / ne ru): sleep
アリスはまた寝てしまいます。: Alice goes back to sleep.
arisu wa mata nete simaimasu
♠︎Tip
"Go back to sleep" means to go to sleep again after waking up. In Japanese, this is called 二度寝する(にどねする / ni do ne su ru).
